I signed a 3yr contract Dec. I sent a cancellation letter to Protectron in Nov. I have found out that Protectron is saying that on Nov 6 that a new contract was agreeded to for another 5 yrs by a verbal agreement. As of that date I still had 13 months left on my SIGNED contract in which I alone signed. Protectron is stating that although I had signed a legal binding contract for 3 yrs and there was still 13 months left that a verbal contract over writes my 3yr signed contract. I have been told that you cannot over write a contract with a verbal agreement when the 3 yr contract is still inforce. They are saying because of this and I refuse to pay the 1,500.00 due to me not using their services that I owe that money and they have put this amount in collections. I have also learned that they have put my husband in collections for this amount although he NEVER SIGNED any contract. All corrispondence that Reliance has sent me comes in ONLY my name. I have also been adviced that because my husband did NOT sign the contract that Reliance illegally put my husband in COLLECTIONS. For just over a year prior to me cancelling my services for the end of my 3 yr term, we had absolutely NO service with this company. (alarm did not work and all the time that our alarm didn't work) we NEVER recieved a call from anyone from RELIANCE saying that they had no connection to our home. Due to us having no ALARM SERVICE we had an home invasion and we had to call 911. For all of that time, RELIANCE withdrew the monthly fees from my account. When I contacted RELIANCE about no service they claim that I had no service due to me switching my phone services.in all of the time that I had RELIANCE I had the same phone provider. When talking to anyone there in collections they are very ignorant and nasty. They continue to say that any verbal agreement over writes my LEGAL AND SIGNED CONTRACT. They refuse to take this out of collections. Although my husband DID NOT sign the agreement they continue to keep this on his credit. My husband was only listed as a contact as was my two children. Before the services where no longer working RELIANCE sent someone in to put a CELLULAR BACKUP, this was hooked up incase the hydro was off or our internet didn't work. Although this equipment was hooked up the ALARM DID NOT WORK. Basically RELIANCE is trying to force me to pay the 5 yr term or continue with their SERVICES that for just over a year did NOT work or PROTECT MY FAMILY. I would like to have answers and resolution as they refuse. I refuse to pay for a 5 year verbal agreement when I still had 13 months on my SIGNED 3yr contract. I cancelled my contract within the 3 yrs as per my contract.
