Mr. Ronald Coleman
Consumer Report

I received a call at 12:13 pm EST today while on another call. The same person called back again at 12:19 pm EST looking for my husband telling me that he won $2,500, 000. I told him to hold on while I call another number to get him. He hung up the phone. I called my husband and told him what was said.

I called the number (1-337-656-8824) shown on my Caller ID and asked for his name. He told me, Ronald Coleman. I told him that my husband will call him when he returned. He did. What was said between them, I don't know because I was doing house chores.

My husband told me that Mr. Coleman said that a Cash Award's notice was sent a couple of weeks ago and he would call back in 25 minutes. I looked for it and probably threw it out because I couldn't find it.

My husband had left out again. Mr. Coleman called back as promised at 1:32 pm EST. He told me that my husband had to have a receipt and an ID to receive the package that was being delivered today. I asked, "He have to have a receipt for the Cash Awards' Notification?" (I'm thinking Publisher Clearing House just comes to your door and this doesn't sound like them!) There was a private jet coming to the Maryland International Airport and Fed Ex so they can deliver the Cashier's Check and he had to pay for it. They are on their way now! From Las Vegas, I asked?"Yes, he says". I ask another question, "What kind of a receipt are you talking about?" He said for me to go to CVS or Walgreens and purchase a money card. For what, I asked?"You need to go to the bank to get $550 and purchase the card to pay for the delivery of a Cashier's Check!" I told him that I had to wait for my husband to come back because he went out again and did not tell me anything about going to the bank. He then said, "You need to hurry up and go to the bank because they are on their way." I responded I can't leave now. "Why?" he asked. Do you have a baby at home?" My response was, "No, I don't." "He then said, "Call me when you get the card." Pondering this in my heart, I decided to put an end to this scam.

At 2:30 pm EST, I get the phonebook to find out whom to call for help. So I called "1st Call for Help" only to find out that they were the Utility Law Office for the people counsel information line. I then looked for a non-emergency number for the police and any other number to help me so they can come and trace the call.

Somewhere around 3:30ish pm, I called the Police Dispatch Number. They didn't answer. Immediately, I called another listed phone number, the state prosecutor's office and told the clerical person that I was receiving phone calls all afternoon from someone about a cash award for my husband. She put me on hold and within seconds I was speaking to the investigator. I explained to him what was happening. He asked for the name and phone number as well as my name and number to call me back. At 3:52 pm, the investigator called me back stating that he called Mr. Coleman but, he didn't answer the phone. The investigator left a message that if he called again, he will be prosecuted. The investigator said to me that, "If Mr. Coleman calls me again, report it to him."

During the searching for phone numbers and calling, I'm getting a call again from Mr. Coleman at 3:39 pm (No, I didn't answer), while trying to get help. The police dispatch was also trying to call me (twice) but I was on the phone with the prosecutor's office.

I hope this helped someone, if not all.
