I took my rims into the Pep Boys in Phenix City Al. Along with a set of tires to be mounted and balanced. I had my brother with me to help unload and load the rims. Upon arrival we unloaded the rims and tires and placed them on the shop floor along with stacking up the new tires. The installer then proceeded to start removing the old tires off the rims and installing the new tires. I went into the waiting room to eat my lunch and my brother stood at the bay door watching the installer do my tires and talking to the other technician. They took the new tires and rolled them across the floor one by one after they removed the old tire off each rim. This is where the problem came in to play. The tire installer didn't feel like bending over to lube the new tire. So he threw the 20 inch tire up on the face of my rims (all 4 rims) after rolling them across the dirty floor. He lubed one side of the tire and then spun the around on the face of the rim before positioning the tire on the rim to install each new tire.By doing this the sand and grit on the tires made scratches on the face of all my rims. Due to pure carelessness. And in installing the tires they had to blast all thee tires on the rim. Which blew tire lube all over the face of the rims. So I didn't realize that the rims were damaged until late the next day when I washed and detailed my truck at home. I immediately took the truck back to the shop that next morning. Then the manager came out and said they didn't do it and didn't want to even call about it. I insisted that he call a regional manager right then and he went inside and called someone. Then came out and said he would be in on Wed. To see about it. He never did. I don't think he called anybody. I waited until the evening on Wed and then called Pep Boys headquarters myself. No claim had been filed. So I got a Complaint number and the customer care agent said someone would call me with 24 to 48 hours. No one called then either. So Friday evening I called back and told them. They could resolve it or I could just go to court and the judge could. I got a call on Monday for the Regional Manager to see my truck. We meet on a Wed and he looked at the rims. We talked about what went on and agreed that I would let them try to fix the scratches and if they couldn't they would see about replacing the rims. The next week I let the manager have my truck for about half a day to try and fix the scratches. Still to this day they refuse to tell me where they took my truck. All they did was clean my wheel's and try to blend the scratches with polishing compound. After lunch I got a call about my truck being ready. I went over to look at my truck and the rims didn't look any different. I immediately called the regional manager about the rims. He said they were scratches were scratches from washing the truck. I argued with him and told him no they weren't and he kept on saying they weren't done by the store. I finally got tired of arguing with him and stated "so you just needed my truck to try and disguise the scratches so you wouldn't have to fix them" then he repeated they were scratched by me washing the truck. I then hung up on him and called Pep Boys Headquarters again and told them what happened. They said the Regional Manager had the final say and I told them it wasn't over. They just thought it was over. She then said someone would contact me within 24 to 48 hours it's been 7 days now. Just trying to see what I need to do now. And if I want to go to small claims court I'll have to pay almost $200 just to hear the case. What do you think I should do sue in small claims court or get a lawyer?
