Received a call from waka woman. Told me as a thank you for filling out the survey (Walmart) they were giving me a $50. Certificate to use on line and a $100. Gas voucher. When I asked questions on any kind of obligations on my part, she said the company was most interested in rewarding me for my interest. I told her I do not shop on line, she said that that is ok and I could cancel at any time, stating that my word about their (/generosity/) would spread their name and get more customers, so the PR was more of what they were interested in. She said that I should wait for a few days before cancelling so that I had to time to receive the gifts and then cancel in seven days. This AM I went on line to look up waka because I could not get through to cancel. (I wanted to see if they would answer in case I decided to wait for the cards.) When I tried yesterday, I was on hold for 15 minutes with a voice telling me my wait time. Since I had a meeting to attend, I stopped and tried again this morning twice. The second time after a few minutes the voice simply said "Goodbye." I immediately called the bank and cancelled the credit card. Up to that point it looks like the only charge is the initial fee. I guess they will get the message of cancellation when and if they submit a charge!
