Everyone was shorted on their checks!

I read about how a payroll girl was discharged at a facility in Florida. I had the same problem while working at Riker's Island, George Matchon Detention Center. The payroll girl would routinely short everyone on their checks. I spoke to a fellow employee and he felt the girl had something worked out with the company. He thought she got a kickback from the company when people were shorted. After working there for 6 months, you get a a paid week off. Well guess what... I worked there and after 6 months took my one week vacation and did NOT get paid. I am out a week's salary and still trying to get it back.

The girl would act like she was not aware of what was going on. She would say, " I was totally unaware of this". I spoke to other employees and I would hear the same story over and over again. People getting shorted on hours, people being owed money for months and never getting paid. You could look and say the girl was responsible for a lot of people and some people do fall thru the cracks. I just think she did not care too much about whether or not people were getting paid. All she cared about was whether she was getting paid. She may have been getting a kickback from the company, and shorted people on purpose.

I was working the night shift. I was supposed to get a 3 dollar increase in salary over the day shift. My first paycheck I received $25 an hour instead of $28. After two weeks I got my second check and my rate was changed to the correct amount $28/hr. But the girl neglected to add the amount I was shorted from the first check. Approx $200. She obviously did not care about me or the amount I was shorted. I don't know if she is still there, but I did contact an attorney and I am in the process of filing a class action lawsuit against Corizon. Any other employees who have been shorted please get in contact via this site.

Also the mental health unit chief, who was an emotionally fractured sadist was removed after my action. He was a very sick, angry man and never should have been in a supervisory position in the first place. After my law suit he was placed behind the scenes... And then decided to leave or was fired. He did not like being behind the scenes, because he was one of those arrogant loud mouths who liked to be the center of attention.

This company does not care about it's employees or who they staff. They are always advertizing because no one stays there for too long. It's not just that it's a prison, which is a stressful environment to work in, it's how the company is managed. Very high turnover, high stress and low pay. They wanted me to see 14 patients/inmates in 7.5 hours for a lousy $25/hr. My supervisor also told me to "eat before coming to work".in other words he was implying that I should work thru my half hour break. He obviously didn't care whether or not I was starving by 10 pm. It's funny how someone with the empathy of a rat's ass is in a helping profession.

Well I made sure he is no longer in a position to play with people's heads. An emotionally fractured sadist, who is extremely angry and inappropriately touches employees, should not be around people. If I wanted to spend some money I could have had a court case. He would have been forced to explain his behavior in front of a judge, jury and colleagues. I did not want to blow the money... It would have been very expensive. But I was given a right to sue letter and did have a case. The company probably would have settled out of court. Anyway... I am going ahead with a class action lawsuit because of the ineptitude of the payroll girl.
