I had a life-threatening stalker situation. I was told by the local police department to move out of my apartment immediately. Now, you would think the leasing agents would work with me without any hesitation. Although they did finally allow me to get out of my lease (after having to prove everything with the police station and giving me a hard time) I was told I had to pay back concessions from the discounts I received when I moved in. I was not told I would be losing my security deposit. After a month of being out of my apartment, I called to get my security deposit back. The leasing Agent was extremely rude to me and I was told I "broke" my lease so therefore they would be keeping it. I did NOT break my lease, they allowed me to move due to their lack of security and the fact that they could not keep me safe. I was then told that it was "made clear to me that I would not be getting my money back" when that was not the case and obviously I wouldn't call to get it back if I even for a second thought that. What does my security deposit have to do with moving out based on THEIR APPROVAL? This is absolutely ridiculous. I am going to call an attorney and get my money back. DON'T move here, please, YOUR LIFE DEPENDS ON IT!!!
