We are warehouse distributors for automotive parts and accessories, in business for over 22 years. We contracted to have an automotive e-commerce site built. The company used a platform called ASP.net and assured us they had some of the best in-house programmers and were capable of handling a project of this magnitude. Auto parts sites are very complex and as time went on we realized that this project was way over their heads. We learned that the back end was built wrong and would never be able to accept the data that would be fed into it. We tried to help them by putting them together with the company who supplies the industry with data; we found out the year/make/model search was not built properly and ASP.net told us that the system could not handle that many categories. It ran so slow, no person would stay on it. They continually assured us that once live, the site would be fine. It is not! We had to abandon the project, let go our two employees (a single mother of 2 as well as our own son, both of whom worked on this project for almost 2 years). The website is useless.
