East Coast Business Concepts
Cydcor, ECBC The Perfect Job for you (if being lied to is your sort of thing)

Before you continue reading: Check out the complaints about Cydcor. I'm sure this isn't the only one. And let's have fun going through your exciting job offer from ECBC!: D

First off: Expect a lot of things! Expect to live off and budget 300 dollars a week after taxes! Expect to blow your paycheck at mandatory meetings at upscale bars! Expect to work 80 hours week and attend pointless chanting! Don't expect employee perks! Don't expect benefits! And most of all don't expect a fair shake!

Yes there is a sketchy interview process! No this is not a management job! Yes its a pyramid organization as your success is directly correlated with the success of the people you bring into this job! (You can become a manager once you can persuade 10 of your friends to pursue a career working for you!) Even after you see the red flags of working
for Cydcor if you sincerely believe that working for Cydcor is still right for you. Contact another ICL (independent contracted licensee) andd get ready brown nose like you've never done before as I will tell you why you SPECIFICALLY should NOT work for East Coast Business Concepts...

What: ECBC is a outsourced vendor for Verizon FiOS! This job is 100% commission door to door sales. There is no base pay, you must expend your own gas to drive to your turf and use your own cell phone minutes to call in sales. The manager of this office's name is Gary Lolli. He has a veneer of being a friendly guy and somewhat laughable display of empathy. But ultimately the sales you close earn him money so it is for his own benefit to persuade you as if he were truly looking out for your interests. So if you ever take this position understand that even someone who has worked her fingers to the bone for two years under ECBC, Gary will just say "oh well employee turnover is supposed to happen..."and a whole bunch of trash after that person quits. If being treated as an expendable resource is for you this maybe a perfect job. However Gary does play favorites and if you are lucky your stay at ECBC will be a little more tolerable. Oh yeah the business trips come out of your pockets too!

How: Gary Lolli is an individual who will tell you to make three lefts instead of one right.
Unfortunately FiOS isn't available in all areas of New Jersey (just certain parts) and NO as of July Verizon isn't planning on expanding installation of expensive fiber optic wiring. So expect to revisit people who slammed the door on you a few months ago. Also ECBC
will send you as far north as Piscataway and as far south as Salem. However running you car 100 miles round trip is NOT the horror story here. Rutgers is in Piscataway/New Brunswick and most of the residents here are college students on off campus housing whom are renting the apartment and have no opinion on switch from Comcast to Verizon because
they are not paying the bill. I explained to him to give me new turf as I couldn't make money and in turn he couldn't make money either. But he refused and told me to make it happen by hunting down the landlord...

In addition to be eligible for Verizon's services you need to credit check people and those people need to pass credit. The next egregious turf Gary provided was in Salem where wikipedia says the average household income is less than 26,000. No one passed credit and still I could not make money. Still Gary said to "make it happen" and force people in the ghetto to buy premium cable services. To this day I am still resentful at the fact he sent me to Salem. I could have been stabbed by drug dealer after it got dark... But yea if you suck up to become a selected "favorite" Gary will always give you affluent territories such as Sicklerville, Voorhees or Medford close by and then guilt trip everyone else why they came back with zero sales.

Why: This is a pyramid scheme. Gary has higher ups he reports to as well and they leech off what he makes and he leeches off what sales you close.By the time the money trickles down to you its a joke what you cash in after expenses considering how hard you hard to
work. On the day of your 2nd round interview, you will be promised that if you survive the harsh conditions above and recruit 10 more people to do the same: you can earn $100,000 dollars a year as a manager. Problem? Well, remember how Dr. Evil threatened blow up to the world for $1 million dollars?! Similarly $100,000 before taxes isn't exactly a lot of
money these days. It may have been a lofty sum of money 10 years ago when gas was 90 cents a gallon and 20oz sodas could be purchase at vending machines for $1 even. To endure that kind of abuse and come out making $60,000 after taxes isn't that nifty.

Although I haven't made it to management and can't tell you what its like. However I can tell you that the "management training program" at ECBC is rigged and that there are managers who go out of business because they cannot run a profitable business because not enough people are recruited... Or tricked?!

Bottom line: If it sounds too good to be true: it probably is... And in the case of East Coast Business Concepts: its a DEFINITE! There's only one of 3 reasons why you would actually be unhappy enough to consider working for ECBC/Cydcor and I'll provide logical suggestions
and I hope these solutions: 1. You are out of a job and willing to do anything for a dollar:
Contact the armed forces, its grueling work either way... Why not work for an organization that gives you real benefits and have superiors who sincerely care about you and your situation? Plus leadership has real meaning here and getting promoted actually increases your paycheck.

2. You really like sales: Find a real sales job. Such jobs exist where you get a base pay, work significantly less hours and include perks like gas reimbursement and a blackberry to put your orders through.

3. You are interested in the management aspect: Earn a masters of business administration (MBA) degree and apply for a management position in a Fortune 500 company. If you were intrigued by "being your own boss" in the first place you understand it wasn't going to be easy and involved a lot of hard work. Well... Yea do your research: MBA graduates are better compensated for their efforts than Cydcor ICLs

About the author: I had my share of the ECBC experience... I thank God for getting me out of ECBC and putting me on the current path I'm on now.in fact I knocked on the door of a hiring manager for Comcast while selling FiOS and was pretty much hired on the spot to do door to door sales. I work 20 hours a week part time and I make 4x what I made with
ECBC at the end of each week. Also working part-time enables me to do more things I want to do... Like study for the GMATs and get accepted into an MBA a program! If you love life and don't want to waste time or money do what makes you happy! Because I guarantee that ECBC will not provide that kind of environment. And hey Gary if you are reading
this... I'm writing this from a recent M&A Touch 10 Companion I recently purchased! ;)

Thank you for reading!

God speed and God bless your endeavors!
