I had an appointment (I had a 1/2 price coupon) and took my Ford Escape for brake pads—2 1/2 hrs. Later I was still waiting and asked for the car as I could wait no longer. They said oh no, we will give you a $50. Discount for poor service and only charge $413.79. Unfortunately, I agreed 15 MINUTES later they brought the car—the bill showed front ceramic pads $60, brake rotor 179.98, LABOR $100, flush brake system $39.99, Caliper slide service $25.00 and taxes $33.82, total due $413.79. I was given a Meineke Warranty. The brakes began making a crunching noise and on 6/15, I made an appointment and took it back. NOW, I was told OH, you need new calipers—an additional $544. I didn't have money for calipers and that service had never been mentioned. I took the car home but the crunching noise worsened and I made another appointment and on 7/20 and they said OH you need calipers and new wiring!!!
When I took it in for the initial service, the brakes weren't making the noises they are now and the car was braking almost as well. Rip-off for a 77 year old widow.
