I just got called by this company. They said we had purchased an online yellow pages advertisement for our church and had agreed to pay $599.99. I knew we would NEVER do that. She said she had a recording though and there was my voice answering questions and giving my name. I heard them ask if the church agreed to pay and my recorded voice answered yes and they asked if I was authorized to agree to that (which I am not) and my recorded voice again answered yes. At first I was flabbergasted because I thought I really had agreed because I heard my recorded voice. And I couldn't figure out how in the world they were able to get me to agree. She then tried to scare me into paying immediately which thank goodness, I wasn't scared enough to do! After I found out the name of the company and got off the phone with her, I googled online yellow pages and guess what, I'm not the only person who has complained about them. I believe they called me in the same way another person had written about, asking me to verify our address, etc. Somehow my recorded "yes" was recorded on questions I have no recollection of being asked. You can probably figure out how that happened.
