On June 21st. 2012 one of the hottest days of the year. I was making my way on foot through the parking lot at the 25th street shopping center in Easton, PA. I am a 55 year old man with a bad back and aligning knees so I naturally walk slow and need to rest often. I entered the parking lot after crossing the busy intersections in the area as quickly as my knees would allow me. Once off the main road I need to take a few minutes out of the scorching heat of the direct sun to catch my breath and cool off. I sought a few minutes of rest in the shade of the building of this bank. I was there about 5 minutes trying to cool down as the temperature was about 95 degrees. There I stood in the back of the building near a mail box wiping the sweat from my head and letting my heart rate slow down a bit when a woman from the bank comes out and tells me I have to leave, threatening me with the police. I have to say, that if I had seen an older man, sweating and panting standing in the shade of my business on one of the hottest days of the year. I would have made sure he was okay, maybe offered him a cool drink, at the very least ask if he needed help. So much for compassion or the well being of a fellow human being.
