John David Bloise, 34, accused of kidnapping a Midland woman at gunpoint Friday, remains in custody at the Midland County Central Detention Center. Bond had not been set Saturday afternoon.
Bloise was arrested Friday by Midland Police Department officers and charged with aggravated kidnapping, aggravated robbery and kidnapping.
Police said Bloise allegedly rang the doorbell at 5200 Polo Club Road and asked for a phone because he was having car problems. A housekeeper returned with a cordless phone, and Bloise asked for a phone book. When she returned again, he allegedly held a gun and tied her up.
Bloise seized Juanice Welsh and drove off in the housekeeper's vehicle. Welsh was recovered at a downtown bank, unharmed.
Aggravated kidnapping and aggravated robbery are first-degree felonies. Each carries a punishment range from five years to 99 years or life in prison and a $10,000 fine. Kidnapping, a third-degree felony, carries a punishment range from two years to 10 years in prison and a $10,000 fine.
