I was suddenly presented with a trivia question when I was trying to access "the cloud" wifi while out for a meal last night. I thought it was FROM "the Cloud". Even after Amazecell was mentioned, I thought it was part of their (the Cloud's) service. I kept answering to 60092 as required. At no point did I register for anything. I simply responded to trivia questions.
I was absolutely shocked when a cost was mentioned.
This is a summary of how it went: (the proof is still on my phone)-
"Here's your first question
Reply yes/no to 60092."
Then:
"Thank you for joining Amazecell's trivia game where you have the chance to win great prizes just by answering the simple questions"
(NO MENTION OF MONEY OR REGISTERING)
6 easy questions later-
"Free message: you have spent £10 on the service. Cost £5 per question. Each correct answer gives you another entry for a chance to win."
(FIRST time Money has been mentioned)
Then-IMMEDIATELY AFTER-
"Amazacell Trivia-well done, each correct answer is another entry. We will let you know if you are a prize winner. You have spent £30 on the service"
I then sent STOP.
They then sent a message saying I was " DISCONNECTED". Then they sent another thanking me for joining.
I sent STOP again
On checking my phone I see that I have a bill for £25.83
