I had insurance with progressive for years. I switched from an agent to getting it online in order to take advantage of the discounts for doing so. Several months after switching, I started receiving letters in the mail saying I owed more money on my insurance. This was confusing to me because I paid the entire six months up front. This was followed by letters saying I was cancelled. I called to ask why I was cancelled. I was told that they needed my previous insurance card, and since I never sent it in my rates went up. I was then told that since my insurance was with them previouly they would reinstate my insurance. However, they did reinstate it at the previous price. I refused to pay a higher rate, and switched insurance companies at that time. They are now saying I owe them for the balance on the policy I paid the entire six months for.
