Was told I got hired for a home based job with this company. They sent me a check to deposit. I called the company to verify and they told me that it is a scam, this company has no home based

I replied to a position on Craigslist for a home based job. It was for $22/hr. And the hours were 8-4 Monday through Friday. The interview was through Yahoo Messenger. I got hired as they said for the job and they sent me a check to deposit into my checking account for me to withdraw money from my account to pay for supplies... A laptop, printer, fax machine.

I got the check and called the company, Great America Companies and they informed me that it is a scam and that this company does not hire home based employees. Do not cash the check if you get it. Throw it away!
