I was contacted by the Consumer Protection Center with an offer to help me prevent identity theft and fraud. After paying them $399 they just dissappeared. The 800 number they gave me to contact them is not in service and when I called the number that came up on my caller-ID, they hung up on me.
They stated that this program was recieving backing from the federal government and that I would be entitled to compensation in the form of a voucher in the amount of $500. If it sounds too good to be true, it usually is!
