Experian Credit Report
Consumer Report

I was reviewing one of my credit card statements and noticed two charges from Experian. The first was for $14.95 and was for "Free CreditS" - it was charged to my card on 3/19. A second charge for $19.95 was posted on 3/21 and was for "Credit Rep". The same thing happened again in April.

I called the telephone number (877-3002507) listed on my credit card bill. I told them what happened and they said that someone named "Crystal G" opened an account with them and used my credit card. I told them the transactions were fraudulent and asked them how someone could buy their services using my credit card without my name and without the CCV code. They said that sometimes other people buy their services for family and friends and they have no way of knowing anything fraudulent is going on. They also said that sometimes people mistakenly enter the wrong card number (which just could have been my card number). Again, I told them that is what the cardholder's name requirement and the CCV requirement are designed to protect. They said it was not their company policy to get either.

I asked them if they thought their policy was consistent with the way they hold themselves out to be a company whose services can protect the public from fraud. That concept seemed to be beyond them. I told them that their policies actually enable and encourage fraud. They person on the phone did not seem to care. I asked to be transferred to a supervisor.

I asked her for the full name of the person who defrauded me. She refused to provide the last name. I asked for the SS# of the person who defrauded me, she said that person might be a victim of fraud. I told her that I AM a victim of fraud. She did not care.

The conversation with the supervisor was just as bad as the first conversation. She suggested that I should call their legal department. I told her that I wanted her to have them contact me. She said that was not their policy. I asked her for a phone number for the legal department - she said she could only give me a fax number. I asked her for an adress - she gave me a PO Box. I told her I did not want to know where their mail went, but wanted to know the address of the actual building. She said that she didn't know.

The bottom line, Experian's policies enable and encourage fraud. Based upon websites like this, the fraud is continuing and widespread. Experian know about it but refuses to change their policies. This cries out for a class action lawsuit againt Experian.
