Ripoff fraud, Told me I was approved for a credit card and a promo gift of a free trip Internet

A man going by the name Michael James called from 416-322-9871 and told me that I had been approved for a credit card and he just needed to verify some information. He started to read me my name and address and what not and then told me that as a special promotional deal I would receive an all expense paid trip to anywhere in the united states for 3 days and 2 nights and the reason for this was so that I would recomend their company to friends and family.

He gave me a toll free number to call (877) 313-0758 and told me it was customer service and to call if I had any questions. He then told me that there is a one time fee for the card and that they needed a check to post the payment. I had asked him several questions and it seemed ligitiment so I gave him the numbers on the bottom of my check.

I decided to look them up on the internet, which is where I found other peoples posting that it is a fraud. This just happened this morning. (7-23-04)
