Dear Sir/Madam
My mother bought a house from Khayalethu Home Loans in July 1991 as per the confirmation letter of granting a loan (which is in my possession) for the amount of R18,169. It is clearly stated that the bond period is 20 years (240 months).
We received a letter dated 18 January from Khayalethu Home Loans to explain that Khayalethu Home Loans was in a process of being taken over by Hlano Financial Services (Pty) Ltd.
As far as I know it, my mother has paid and exceeded the repayment of the loan as the last instalment should have been in July.
I would like to know (1). Why was this account handed to the legal department (attorneys) for collection although my mother never missed any payments?
(2). Which months have not been paid from the day that Hlano took over from Khayalethu home loans or from which date was this account in arrears?
(3). Why is it that when interest rates went down the monthly instalments are still the same though she was never on fixed interest rate option?
(4). Why the loan end date is the 1st of December 2021 (30years from the date of purchase) whereas the bond period is 20years.
Will you please investigate this account as a matter of urgency. A copy of this letter has been sent to my lawyers to investigate this matter.
I hope we could resolve this matter without any legal battles. I have sent a copy of this letter to Hlano Home loans (Pty) Ltd requesting clarity and investigation on this matter, all without response. This is now beyond my control.
Will you please help my mother with this investigation as she is struggling to continue with this account as she thought that she has done enough to repay the home loan in the last 20years. I will provide any documents you may need on this matter with receipts frm July 1991.
Yours sincerelyKenneth Makeleni (her son)
