Consumer Report

On 12/19 I contracted to purchase a PC cleaning and registry cleaning from Systweek / Cleverbridge in the amount of $119. Doing so I had to allow remote access tomy PC. The system sold never did what it was supposed to do.
On 3/3 I get a phone call from India, it was Michael from Systweek and he said Microsoft has in formed them that my PC was infected with a Virus. He asked me to go to my PC and allow them access again. Within seconds he goes to a window and says this is the virus and for us to clean out will cost $248. I said I can't afford that, no deal. Michael said wait, he came back and said $169. I still could not afford it but my PC was running poorly. I said OK tothe $169 and then he insisted on credit card and I explained I didn't have one, he then said we'll take a debit card and I said no way. The first purchas made in 2011 was done using Pay Pal. So I asked why not Pay Pal. And again he insisted we have to have a card so I said "unistall your software" I would not give my debit card. He then sais wait... Came back in 2 minutes and said we'll take Pay Pal. I should have seen the flags right there! They tied up my computer for over 2 hours and promised to clean my lap top as well.
During a time of chat I asked what time it was in India and he said morning as it was about 7pm here. When they finally got done with my PC I said what about my lap top and Michael said the tech was going home.in the morning? I is my belief that when they first occupied my PC during the first purchase that they install this virus / spyware / malware and thus when they call up they knew where it was there and went right to it. It wasn't hidden at all.
I wrote to Norton, they handle my internet security, and told him of this entire case and he told me (i have his letter) that there is no way Microsoft or Norton or any of the big companies would call Systweek to report a virus on my PC. He later went on to say "you have been scammed". I wrote to Systweek and demanded a refund and fully uninstall all the programs they put on my PC and so I am asking for you to help get back the entire total of $288, that's $119 for the first purchase and $169 for the second. I do believe that they themselves install the virus/spyware/malware and then try to look like heros and saved my PC. I also detect a scam when they continue to insist on a credit card or debit card. Thanks for what ever you can do. I did tell them I would report this to the NYS Attorney General and US Attorney General. And I will.
