I was an former employee of Norvergence in Newark, NJ. I went to work everyday and expected my paycheck every other friday. Norvergence was going through some financial problems and we were told about them. We did inquire about our job stability and our pay. The Owners Peter Salzano and Tom Salzano stated to us that our jobs would be fine and that we would be getting paid. Alot of rumors went around Norvergence about what was going on. I tried to think on an positive level that everything would be ok. We offer an good solution, but the owners did not know how to handle the money. As I was told, this is not the 1st, 2nd or 3rd company they have operated, it is the 6th or 7th and they all go under.
It was an thursday afternoon and I was doing my work. My department was pulled into an meeting and we were told that we should be ok. The meeting then ended. We then went back to our desks and some more rumors were going around that the other employees in the other building were told to go home. We all then stopped working and we were told one of the owners were coming to talk to us. He came into the department and told us that they are filing Chapter 11 and that of today we were all being laid off. We inquired about our paychecks and we were told that they would get back to us next week and let us know the status of whats going on.
I got an call aproximately 6 days later stating that Norvergence is downsizing and that my position was terminated. At that time I was told to file for unemployment. I am not sure how an company that big could get away with not paying us. I was there the whole two weeks working and I feel that I should of gotten paid for it. I was later told by my old manager who with be nameless that they have filed Chapter 7 and that Norvergence has closed for good. I was also told that they packed everything up in the two buildings and the doors were shut for good.
This goes out to all former employees of Norvergence. We must try to fight and get our money, we cannot let a company do this to us. To all the former customers of Norvergence. They were also given a raw deal, they depended on Norvergence and know they nobody to turn to because we are no longer in Business.
