Ruth Anderson from GREENWOOD FINANCIAL called me about 2 weeks prior to the date I sent them money, and reported that they had qualified me for a $5000 loan @ 7.9 fixed interest rate and my payments would be $121.83 for 48 months and there was no pre-payment penalty. The only thing was that I either needed a co-signer or get creditor's insurance for $563 that would be re-imbursed to me after 6 months of payments. I got the loan documents and I sent them to my attorney who reviewed them and advised me to ask a couple of questions about the pre-payment and the wording of the late charges and a few "minor" wording issues with the loan contract. That's it. I called Ruth and asked her the questions and she assured me that everything was ok. At this point I opted to buy the creditor's insurance because I did not want to have to ask anyone to co-sign for me. I got 2 Green Dot Money Pak cards totalling to $563 and provided that information to Ruth and she told me once my payment cleared I would be getting the loan the next day. Which was Friday but they would Direct Deposit it at 12AM. I checked my account on Saturday morning and there was NO DEPOSIT and also NOTHING provessing! I called her (because she had assured me she was working on Saturday so if there were any issues she could take care of them then). I let Ruth know about the issue. She then "looked upo my file" and said that it said the payment was processing and it should in fact say transaction complete since it was already Sat morning, she tole me she was going to talk to the Lending manager and she would get back to me or I should call her. Well the next time I talked to her was Tues (Mon was a holiday) and she was apologetic and said some garbabge about me being fkagged becaus of some recent activity on my credit report and that although I still qualified I needed to get the full insurance so i needed to send an additional $400 and then the loan would be processed, of course I refused and she offered for me to get a co-signer, I just let her know I wanted my money back. She told me it would be sent out as a check adn I shoul dget it with 5 days and she would call with a confirmatipon number. I knew she had taken my money! But I was everyone to be a aware od this, because "GREENWOOD FINANCIAL" IS NOT THE ONLY SCAM COMPANY OUT THER!!! NEVER buy "creditor's insurance" for a loan that has not been dusbursed and that would require additional pay, ment outside of your bank account. If they had just taken that money out of my account I could have tracked it and gotten my money back, but now scammers are smart and they get you to go above and beyond to get your money stolen!
