Complaint / Review
Match.com
Consumer Report

I joined match.com and over the past 2 months have sent out e-mails to 75 different women with no result, no response at all. When I complained to Match, they sold me additional services to verify that the e-mails were received (they were). When this did nothing, they suggested having my bio professinally re-written for an additional fee of $39.95 which also did nothing.

While browing the match.com site, I was notified on 3 different occasions that there was an IM request from a woman whose picture and bio said they were local American women, but soon after responding, I discovered 2 of them to be in Nigeria and 1 in Russia. I contacted match and explained my concerns and they said they would look into my complaint, but there has been no resolution and I still get IM requests. I no longer respond, but it calls into question the vaildity of this service.

Finally, my bio states I want to meet women within 50 miles of my home, yet I get notifications that I have been "favorited" from women in California, Taxas, Florida, New York, Canada, and even China. I think this is a blatant fraud to make it appear that my account is getting activity so they can repeat their claim of "more introdutions". On several occasions I have received e-mails from Match that I have mail from one of their members only to click on the link and find that "this member is no longer available". I again contacted Match about this and they only referred me to a FAQ which said this could happen if their account was not current. If it is not current, how can they be able to contact me? Again, this is a fraud to make it seem like there is activity and to entice me to extend my membership.

I have also seen bios which obviously use models. The photo is professionally done and the bio is skimpy and canned as though it was written by Match and they only use the woman's picture as a come-on to prey on lonely old men to spend their money with the vain idea that these women actually exist. It calls into question the veracity of any of their so-called "members". This place is a sham and should be shut down before anyone else wastes their money on it. They prey on the lonely for the purpose of making money. Shame on them.
