I thought I was calling H&R Block Emerald Card to get a pin number for my tax return card. I called 1 800 instead of 1 866 and got assist 123. Without realizing I had called the wrong number I asked the person who answered how I could get a pin number for my card. They told me they would have to transfer my call to that department but in the meantime would I like to sign up for a $100 giftcard for trying their services. Stupidly I gave them my credit card number thinking it was something with H&R Block. I was transferred to someone who told me about all these different promotions and that they would be charging my card $3.95 but that I could cancel their services at anytime. I immediately became suspicious and tried to cancel. They told me they could not cancel the $3.95 but that I could call the number that came in the paperwork to cancel within the 30 day trial period. I cancelled my credit card and I'm hoping that all they will be able to take will be $3.95. I should have known better, but I thought I was talking to H&R Block until halfway through the call. I hope I do not have to worry about anymore charges or hear from them again.
