Young white male came to my door offering "a good deal" on load of gravel from a nearby job. Stated price of $150 to $200 for the job. Group of men arrived a few minutes later with 2 dumptrucks, a pickup truck an suv and a total of 8 men of various nationalities the gravel was unloaded. I was then approached by two of the men telling me the job would cost $1500. I said NO. One of the men said that i had misunderstood the first quote. I told them to get the gravel up. They of course refused.By then i felt very uneasy. I was alone. I wrote the check and they hurriedly left. I tried to stop payment on the check but i was too late. I did call a local quarry and after a description of the dumptrucks. The small load of gravel purchased totaled $84. I called the cell number that was on the "business card" and jerome b shaw answered. I told him what i had found out about the price of the gravel purchased and that he needed to return my money. He returned with $. 500. I have asked for the remainder of my money minus $200 which is probably a fair price for the job. He has agreed to send this to me.
