I located PetPlan on the internet. I spoke with a lady representative regarding their insurance plan. I explained that my reason for looking into their insurnce was because my dog was previously examined by my vet and he discovered a fat tumor on his right side. I further explained that since that examination, which was in July I discovered 2 more fat cells and I wanted to know if they would be covered for removel. She informed me that they would be covered if they were not directly the result or associated with the tumor discovered in July. I replied that they were not, and she then said they would be covered.
On 1/3 I had my vet remove the two new tumors. I submitted the bill of $811.00 ($300.00 was for teeth cleaning and not covered) On 1/13 I called PetPlan because I had not heard from them regarding my claim. They stated my claim was denied because of pre-existing conditions. I called and explained what I had been told on the day I signed up, and also had my vet place a call to them. They refused any payment. Since, I read their agreement and based on it, my claim would be pre-existing. My complaint is that I excepted the word of their rep. When I signed up via my telephone call. My opinion is that she was more concerned about making a sale than telling the truth. I now also feel that anyone signing up for their insurance should first consider the fact that there is a deductable of $100. Or $200. And a co-pay of 20% plus monthly payments, and many things are not covered.
