My friends and I have been looking for jobs for awhile. We were very excited when we saw the ad in the paper saying we could make 425 dollars to start!
Well we called and set up interviews and we all have interviews at the same time on the same day and althought this is weird we thought maybe they had a few people conducting interviews, wrong, there was only one person doing interviews and wonder of wonders we all were interviewed at the same time.
We were so excited because the next day we all got the job which maybe should of tipped us off. So we were told to come in for training the day after next.
We thought we would be getting paid for training, wrong again, we had to sign a paper saying it was ok that we weren't getting paid for two days of training.
This was ok with us cause we were so excited about the prospect of making 425 next week. So the first day of training starts and we start learing to use the vacuum which is weird because we were told we would not be doing sales.
So I asked are we going to be selling vacuums? I was told by the lady (Jonna) who was training us that we would not be doing sales we just had to know our product.
She (Jonna) talked alot about herself and talked alot about unappropriate things such as sex. She even talked about a boy she called a bible thumper because he asked her not to swear, and she did swear very very often while my friends and I were there.
So the training ends and still my questions go unanswerd, I mean if we aren't doing sales then what in the world are we doing it made no sense.
So my friends and I went home and I asked my parents about it. They suggest the people were lying to me, which I had assumed. If they weren't lying then they would have told me what I was supposed to be training for.
Here is the really weird part, they told us that we had to set up at least 8 appointments with family and friends over the weekend to show the vacuum. This really confused me cause I was told I would not be selling vacuums.
I had asked about this as well and was told it was just part of our training. Then we were also told that we had to go to 15 homes next week to show vacuums, again this was part of our training.
I asked what do we do after that and I was told don't worry about it. At this point I had had enough. I went to the Kirby website and saw that Kirby vacuums are only sold through in home demonstrations. I was told I was going to be in some sort of management position but how is that possible.
So I called my friend and told her I was quitting and that it was a sales job and they lied to us. She quit as well but another friend of ours decided to stay on.
She didn't care if it was a sales job because she has a son and needed the money for him. So she worked there for a week. The first weekend she sold 2 vacuums one for 1600 and one for 1450.
She was very excited because she was told for every vacuum you sell you get a big bonus. Then after the weekend she went with another sales person to observe.
She then went to pick up her supposedly huge check. When she opened it boy was she surprised. It was only for 168 dollars! This was confusing to her so she asked where was the 425 she was promised.
They then told her that was only if you didn't sell any vacuums. If you sell some you don't get that. You only get a cut from the sale of vacuums.
That is just totally crazy. They never said that before. And the worst part is she took her car into the shop and now she does not have the money to pay to get it back.
Needless to say this company is a scam, or at least this branch. I know Kirby vacuums are very good. But they have no right to treat people this. My friend deserves her money. I hope you can help with this.
