I tried today (about 5:00 pm Dec. 11) to take advantage of a half off offer from magicjack for their new magicjack plus. I went through all the steps and when the shopping cart screen appeared, it showed the item at full price. So, I did NOT click the "Complete Purchase" button, but instead closed out the window. Then I tried the purchase in another way, which did show the correct amount. However, I purchased this based upon their ad which claimed that there is a 30-day free trial, and that your card will not be charged until 30 days have passed. When I checked my email, there were TWO confirmations instead of one, for the total shown above. The first one was for the full price item that I did NOT authorize, and the second one was for the item that I did authorize. However, it stated that because I had used a debit card instead of a credit card, they were charging me IMMEDIATELY instead of waiting 30 days. When I checked my bank account, both charges were pending, and a third charge for $1.00 was also pending. I replied to both of the emails, to immediately cancel both orders. They replied soon after to say that the orders were canceled. However, my bank told me that those funds would be held in the "pending" state for up to 3 days. So, magicjack gets my money for 3 days for free, which means that if my landlady cashes my rent check, it will bounce!
