I went to safeway to buy a turkey that i heard advertised on the radio for five dollars. Looking in the meat case all five dollar turkeys were gone, i guess. I did find a sign for a 9 dollar turkey. Price is a big deal to me because we are on a fixed income. When i was being checked out at the cashier, the man told me to get that price i would have to buy $25. Oo worth of groceries. I then told the manager i could not afford such an expensive turkey. I started to leave the store, but returned to the meat counter to view the sigh that the manager said was there. I found the sign after about five minutes. The purchase disclaimer was about one tenth the size of the very bold nine dollar price sign. The color of the print was about two shades of brown different from the background, making the disclaimer almost invisible. I went back to talk to the manager and to verbalize my total dissatisfaction with the very deceptive advertising practice, as displayed on the price sigh. This type of bait and switch display sign should be against the law. These signs are clearly designed to bilk the public. I hope the california department of consumer affairs will do something about such an agregis diplay of total customer abuse.
