My name is Marilyn Timmons. This letter is in reference to my dispute for charges made on my Visa/Debit Card
made payable to Capo by the Sea on August 05 in the amount of $7500.00. This is the fee I was charged for my son Joe to be treated at this Treatment Center for Addiction. Joe suffers from Alcoholism.
I searched the Internet and made many phone calls to Addiction Centers in California where my son Joseph lives. As I reside in the state of Washington this was my only option. Their Website is quite convincing of the work they do there. I decided on [Irrelevant Information Removed] by the Sea, the Director Patty Hall was very comfortable to talk with and assured me this was the facility Joe needed to be for rehabilitation. Ms. Hall would keep me informed of Joe’s progress etc. I also explained Joe had a hearing coming up for a DUI. Patty explained they would go to court with a letter confirming he had been in this program. I was relieved by all this wonderful support they offered. I explained that Joe had been to see a doctor a few weeks or so prior to my call to her and I was concerned that he may be having health problems due to his heavy drinking. Also the fact that he may go into withdrawal scared me. Patty again promised that upon entering the Center Joe would be evaluated by a Physician and not to worry. Joe would have one on one counseling as well as many group meetings everyday. Patty went over their daily routine I was impressed. Capo also offered continuing support for the patients after they leave the center.
After reviewing my options for Joe’s treatment I decided to send him to Capo [Irrelevant Information Removed] by the Sea. Within two or three days Joe’s Brother Jason drove him to the treatment center.
By the tenth day Joseph left the treatment center with nothing. As you will read in his statement as well as his brother Jason’s statement the time at Capo [Irrelevant Information Removed] by the Sea was totally unproductive.in fact very unprofessional and ridiculous, what we all went through six days into his stay. Joe called us in a panic that he was told he had to get his things out of his room and go to the “Drug House” as they called it. He was being transferred to another group??? Joe was being punished because he told them he wasn’t going to sign the papers to stay another 20 days for $15,000.
These are the services paid for and promised for this fee however Joseph did not receive.
#1. Did not see a Physician, Medical Doctor of any kind not even a nurse to take vitals etc.
#2. Did not receive proper Personal counseling, one on one with a licensed counselor, only received 30 min.in 10 days. Other than meetings at Starbucks everyday there was no real teaching about recovery or how to overcome Alcoholism.
#3. Never any updates regarding Joe’s progress to Mother (Joe signed release) I left messages that were never returned.
#4. Nothing was done to support Joseph with his court hearing, no letter no Patty Hall.
#5. I never received a receipt upon request
#6. Never received any requested paperwork at all, three months later nothing.
#7. Told this is a Christian based environment.
Within a week Joseph had his first drink, Two weeks after Joseph left this establishment we had to put Joe into a Six Month program.
I feel this Center is corrupt and just wanted my money. I was taken, this is a for profit con.
