Dunlap Enterprises is a mystery shopping firm. Typically mystery shoppers will be given an assignment to go to a certain shop at a certain date at certain times and buy certain products. All products are purchased at the mystery shopper's expense. Reports are due within 24 hours.
I shopped at three places for Dunlap Enterprises. I followed all instructions and even called to make certain everything arrived in order. I was assured everything had arrived and everything was fine. I must have done a good job, in fact, because I have been receiving calls inviting me to do other assignments, all of which I have turned down because I have never been reimbursed for the products I was required to buy. I have also never received the "thank you" amount of money for all the work I did.
Repeated calls to Dunlap Enterprises have yielded empty promises to resolve the situation and empty promises to call me back. When, after repeated calls, I did get a call back, I was told the shops were not on file. I had to supply all dates and times again. I also was told no payment would be issued for 90 days after the work was completed. The first shop was well over 90 days ago; that shop is conveniently not on file. So I left messages with all dates and times.
Finally today I got a call back asking if everything was taken care of, which, of course, it hasn't been. Upon questioning Sherry at Dunlap Enterprises, I learned that the later shops are on file but the first shop is still not found. Now I am required to fax everything back again. It seems apparent to me that mystery shoppers are expected to follow everything to the letter, and when they do, they still get no reimbursement. Obviously there is no fault in how I have completed the assignments, because I have been asked several times to do more. Of course, no one would proceed to do work that is unpaid for 90 days and then conveniently "not on file" and still unpaid. My only comfort is that my losses were kept down due to the fact that I refused further assignments until I was paid for the first ones.
