I have read previous complaints about this company, and they don't surprise me at all. After I made it clear that I absolutely do not want anything to do with them after six payments of $49.74 in five months, they offered to allow me to "settle" my account for a lump payment of half of what they would receive if my account remained open. This amount was nearly four hundred dollars. The representative on the phone told me that I had entered a verbal contract that was on tape.
However, when I asked about the tape in a subsequent call, I was first put on hold. Then another person got on the phone and asked more than once if I was recording HER, and threatened prosecution if I was. I do not believe that any such tape exists, because one would only prove that this company has lied to me from the start. I have no intention of paying them any more money, have spoken with the Florida Attorney General's office, and will send both Atlantic Magazine Services and the Attorney General's office a letter explaining that I have no more business with these scammers.
