I applied for a credit card online and received it in the mail today (9/8) with a $300 credit. I dialed 1-800-678-7820 to activate it. A machine answered and i was asked to verify my ssn and to press a number to speak to a rep. I then became suspicous because every credit card that i've activated i have never spoken to an actual person. A female with a spanish accent answered and asked me to verify my last 4 digits of my ssn and my address and i did. She became chatty about the weather etc. And asked to verify my ssn again.By then i decided something wasn't quite right. I'm concerned that my ssn and address about giving out the information. I also called the customer service #1-800-955-7070. Again they asked for the last 4 digits of my ssn it sounded like the same person that i spoke to earlier while trying to activate the card. I told her that i decided not to activate the card and that i had changed my mind. She started to stutter and i ended the call by hanging up. Went on their website. Icons kept moving around and I could not get thru without putting in my ssn. Please advise. Thank you
