Orld Wide Van Lines, A Goldern Hand Moving
Consumer Report

With a "non binding" estimate from World Wide Van Lines, I met the "subcontractor" they sent to my storage unit, Movers USA - ALSO a Golden hand company. He showed up two hours late, at twilight, and rushed me through the papers, which of course I should have read thoroughly. But I signed them so they could get started, as I'm sure they intended.

Within the hour I'd realized my mistake, as the math of the price per pound pointed to a much higher number than the $1770 estimate I thought I'd agreed to. At that point, they already had some of my things loaded, and the boss, Ronnie, refused to take them off of the truck.insisted he'd charge me for storage, etc, until I paid him for what they'd already done - an exhorbitant amount, of course.

He now claims I owe him $5100. The next morning, 8 hours later, I called him and his office in Denver, talking to a Mary, telling her in person, leaving voiced mails, and sending them an email, telling them there was no way in Hell I was paying that amount, NOT to load my goods from the first truck to an 18 Wheeler, to set them aside and I'd make other arrangements.

Ronnie ignored my demand, loading it on the truck anyway, and it's now headed to my destination, Kentucky. He's theoretically supposed to be here on Saturday the 26th. We'll see how this turns out. I'm quite mad at myself for falling for a classic scam, but the first order of business is to regain control of my possessions.
