I need to report the below SCAM, but not really sure how to get this information in the hands of someone that can help me retrieve the $1600 I am out from a craigslist scam.
Below is the information about the scam with dates and names:
Initial contact:
Do you stiill have this posted ad for sale? No signature or name. Email from eric maxwell [[email protected]]
Replied yes. No response for a couple days so asked if they still wanted it.
Received this email on July 8th from Eric Maxwell [[email protected]]:
Thanks for the response... I'm okay with the condition and price of the item and ready for its purchase. My form of payment will be by
sending you Check via UPS next day air delivery. I'll be responsible for the pick-up and the movers fee will be included in your payment to avoid delay and to enable pick up company to schedule an appropriate time for the pick-up at your location after check has been cashed as I have other properties to be moved alongside the item. And secondly, Kindly delete the posting as am definitely buying it from you and it would be sad for me to have the payment in the mail only to be informed of the its sale. I will also wait for you to cash the check before i have my mover come for pick up. Would have love to come over for viewing but I'm afraid that might not be possible due to my work frame. If you have more pics please send so I can have a good look. Do get back to me with your full name and address (not p. O box) including your cell and land number so I can make out payment. Also am deaf and will like to be contacted via email.

Good Morning, I have since receive the confirmation from my secretary and a certified check which i believe is easier and faster as been issued to your name and address as provided by you some hours ago and would be delivered via priority mail within 2 days, but to my greatest surprise the payment was issued out to the sum of $2000 instead of the actual cost of my purchase She claimed that i requested for that amount to be issued out to you but am very sure i only made a request for just the cost of my purchase. This is a terrible mistake and i was just informed about this so please once the check is delivered please take it to your Bank and have it cashed. You will then deduct the cost of my purchase plus an extra $100 to offset the cost of your run around expenses. The rest of the fund should be sent to my mover via western union money transfer which is available in every Walmart or K-Mart store around you the same day so that my mover can make the trip over for the pick at once. *I will need your response via email assuring me that i can trust you to handle this with utmost care and have the remaining fund returned appropriately as requested and will hope that your intentions remains noble though out the duration of this transaction*

2. Sender's name and address used in sending the money
3. Actual amount sent.

Kindly locate a western union store close to your address every K-mart as one. You might text me on this number 210) 236-0749 for further clarification while am at work. I will do my best to attend to that as am usually very busy while at work.*

Took check to the bank on Monday July 25. Showed it cleared. Sent remainder of money to Donna Lou Alberts on Tuesday evening July 27. Check bounced on July 30. Out $1600.
Sender contacted me via text on July 26 wanting to know where there money was: Text number is 210-236-0749. They were wanting an immediate response from me about the money and said there email was no longer active and to respond via text. I have the text messages saved too.
Contacted Sender on July 30th and of course they said the check had cleared there bank and they did not have the money to make this right.

I know this was the dumbest thing to do, but have never been scammed so had no idea what I was dealing with.
Do I have any recourse to get my money?
