I responded to an ad online looking for mystery shoppers. I sent my resume and filled out a small application. About a week later, I received a small packet with O.T. X survey customer service evaluation tool (CSET).
The form has walmart, walgreens, and of course WESTERN UNION, as the stores they wanted me to visit and evaluate. They also included a check in the amount of $2245.00. The instructions attached said to call the number on the front of the letter to get a code to enable me to cash the check. They also told me that each job was to be completed in 3 days. After cashing the check (at only my bank, no check cashing facilities), I was to go to WESTERN UNION first and send $1,700 I was to be the sender and receiver (strange), but im sure the money went to them. They said the rest was for my shopping ($70 at Walgreens, $90 at Walmart.) (and I was welcome to keep the items, just send them the receipts), and my salary of course was $250 for doing the survey. Come to find out later that the check was fraudulent, I and I had to repay the bank the $2245.00. Needless to say, the $1,700 I sent to them was my money. They are a total SCAM. They had me send the money before I could find out that the check was bogus. And who knows how much more information they have about me and my banking info.
This could really end up being a worse scam than just the $1,700 they stole from me. So, if you get a letter like this it is suggested to give it to your local police Dept. Dont be fooled!
