I am a 23 year old who always suffered with weight issues due to emotional distress. Words cant explain how upset and hurt I feel after my visit to the Shell Gas Station in Maplewood NJ.
My sister and I decided to stop for gas at the local Shell Gas Station. As the guy was pumping the gas he came to my window (passenger side), which was rolled down and he says "Are you two sisters" We said yes he replied "You both have the same eyes, same nose, same mouth, but she is skinny and you're fat." I frowned to myself a little inside but thought to myself no big deal. Then he says "Why are you fat?" Fat does not look good, its no good, men dont like that. Shocked and humiliated I stared at hame with my mouth open and looked over to my sister who sped off.
When I got home it really sunk in. I felt totally insulted. I have been dealing with stress and anxiety and really didnt need this incident to push me over the edge. I have been so angry all day and find it RUDE AND DISRESPECTFUL for a Shell Gas Station Employee to feel the need to voice their discriminating opinions on a customer. I know that I should not blame the entire Shell Station but I can honestly say I will not be going to that Shell for gas anymore!
