GrabSwag.com
Consumer Report

Just like everyone else's story, I was on techcrunch and caught wind of offerpenny.com which directed to grabswag's signup page. Brazen everywhere on the page were messages of "get 10 free bids". Having had success on Quibids I decided to join and try out the 10 free bids.

I was charged $99 for 132 bids the 10 extra bids. I went through the process again under a dummy account to see where exactly it was pointed out that I was buying something. It didn't. On the credit card entry page it asks for credit card info in one box on the right. On the left there are three stacked boxes: the first says awesome deals... Etc, second box says starter bid pack and the cost of $99, third box says awesome deals stuff again. No where does it explicitly say YOUR ACCOUNT WILL BE CHARGED $99.

Furthermore, there is no credit card verification page or summary page before purchase. After entering credit card details it automatically charges the account. What kind of backwards web commerce methodology is this?

Any site that cheats visitors into giving them a sizeable purchase like this is not to be trusted regardless of the positive accounts. If they did something like this they can do something worse again.

I did not contact them as of yet but I have read through the Terms and Agreement and it does not mention a $99 charge to the account anywhere.

I'm utterly flabbergasted at the audacity of the site owners to blatantly cheat people this badly.
