PODS Review - PODS

PODS has a couple of drawbacks:
1) PODS schedule their dropoffs and pickups the day prior to the dropoff or pickup... So the customer doesn't know in advance when their POD will arrive or be picked up. This makes it impossible to hire help to pack or unpack your POD because you don't know if the POD will arrive at 7:30AM or 5:00PM. Conceivably, your POD could be dropped off after 5:00PM and picked up the next morning at 7:30AM... Yup, unpacking a POD all night in the dark is "Convenient"!

2) Everyone I have spoken to has understimated the size and number of PODS necessary to accomodate all your "stuff".in the end, I had to rent a Uhaul to move the last of my "stuff" that did not fit into my two 12-foot PODS.

PODS advertise themselves as offering moving "convenience". Not being able to hire help, because of PODS unknown deliver/pickup schedule, is not convenient. Neither is scrambling at the last minute to rent a Uhaul because of underestimating the number/size of PODS needed.

Notes: Issue #2 could be solved with some sort of online estimator tool. Issue #1 is a much bigger problem that is inherent to how and when PODS schedules their drivers. Oh, and as other reviewers have identified... You do not always receive a phone call telling you when to expect your dropoff or pickup.

Would I used PODS again? Hummm. Maybe...

Now here is my biggest complaint. I had multiple PODS and I was careful to coordinate their dropoffs and pickups so that I only had one POD in my driveway at a time. At my final destination POD #2 arrived and the driver dropped it in the street and left POD #1 in my driveway. I argued with him (which I should not have had to do) to take away the empty POD #1, which was not blocking access to unloading POD #2. He wouldn't remove POD #1 (or at least put it in the streed an move POD #2 onto my driveway) until I called PODS HQ and got two levels of management on the phone. As it ended... They had a scheduling error (surprise, suprise) and could had to leave the empty POD in the street in front of my house (which made my new neighbors happy)... But at least the (finally) moved the full POD into my driveway, so I could unload it.
