I called the Dell customer support line, which I have used several times in the past. The person "helping" me insisted that I purchase an extended support contract before he would help me with a minor settings adjustment. When I asked to speak to the manager, the manager took over the call and downloaded diagnostic software on my machine that I specifically asked him not to install. I guess they figured that if I wasn't going to pay extra, they could ruin my files and there wouldn't be any repercussions. Amazing!
