I lost my job and got behind on my American Express payments 2 years ago. Since then, I have been made 16 consecutive monthly payments to Wagner and Hunt on the account and all I get are berating phone calls over and over about how I need to pay more and pay faster. Almost $3500 later I am now being sued in small claims court for a $45 service fee plus a $310 filing fee against a debt that I was actively paying.
This action is a waste of time for the court and proof that any idiot with a law degree can be a source of irritation for the rest of the world. I will continue to repay my debt at a lower monthly payment directly to American Express because I may have to save some money to defend myself against these idiots.
While I had believed that they had dropped the initial law suit, I stopped my complaint to the Florida Bar. After seeing that they did not I will continue with that complaint as well as send copies of all the correspondence to as many agencies that will listen. Harassing people that are attempting to get their life back in order after being downsized and diligently attempting to pay back debts and not go bankrupt is beneath even what most perceive lawyers to be. Maybe I should simply file bankruptcy and not try to "do the right thing."
