New Brighton Ford
Poor Service

On 4/18 I took my vehicle to the Ford dealer in New Brighton reporting to them that I heard some grinding sounds in the front left wheel. After their inspection the mechanic discovered that the vehicle needed 2 ball joint assemblies replaced in the front end of the vehicle and the work was completed that day. The price ticket of $1,077.65 was assessed for the work done including a complete vehicle inspection. I left the garage later that day and the problem seemed to be resolved. On 5/9 I noted that a faint noise was in the front left wheel so I took the vehicle to Midas where I had a brake job done on the vehicle previously.initially I thought that maybe a brake shoe was hanging up, and therefore this would be covered under warrantee. Quite to my surprise I found that once again the problem was related to the front left wheel as before. The front left bearing was loose and the hub was bad. This problem should have been noted as the mechanic and shop manager states that this assembly would have been detected when the service was done by Ford just 1 month prior.

After the work was completed at Midas – I took the vehicle and the paperwork to the Ford dealer to talk to them about the problem. The service advisor Steve Moga talked to the mechanic who did the work, and the mechanic claims that he did not remove this assembly and did not note the problem at the time of the initial repair – thus this must have come up since the initial repair one month prior. I disagreed that this problem could not have been detected as the entire wheel was not stable when I inspected the vehicle at the Midas shop. There is no way that the hub cap could have been put on the wheel without this problem being detected. This vehicle was brought to Ford with the left wheel as a problem area to be inspected. There is no way that this problem could have been missed. Ford refused to accept any responsibility in this matter nor did they accept that I now had to pay another repair bill for this vehicle one month after the initial repair. Not only was this poor customer service but I will not ever go to this dealer again for service, as the quality of work has not been backed by the dealer. Feel free to talk to Midas about this problem if you have any questions. I am very discussed with the service provided by Ford. The Midas dealer can be reached at 763-780-8244.

When a customer brings their vehicle into the shop for service – that is what they expect - service. Not trusting that service will be done when the vehicle has been brought to a dealer is a problem. Not accepting any responsibility – is also a problem. This vehicle has been serviced consistently, and there was no reason that this problem was not seen. What was I paying for when being charged $634.23 for labor on 4-18-11? With all the technology, and experience that mechanics are supposed to have in order to fix a vehicle and diagnose the problems, how can something as perfectly clear as an unstable wheel go without notice? This is what the vehicle was being serviced for to begin with. Sincerely, Claire Braun
