I bought a wedding dress with a skirt I loved, but I had really specific modesty requirements, so I needed a whole new top with a higher neckline and long sleeves. This seamstress made me a custom top that fit perfectly and looked exactly the way I wanted, and in the end it cost me way less than I expected.in fact, I know people who paid more for their alterations than I did to completely remake the top half of the dress. I've since gone back to have other things altered and every time she charges less than tailor shops. The only problem is that her studio is in her home, which some people may not like, but that's never been a problem for me.
