In 2007 I was sitting at my desk working, I saw an advertisement about on line classes with UMUC, so I decided to fill out the inquiry form for someone to contact me. A rep called me and we talked, he asked what type of work do I do, and according to my answers he said we have classes that will be starting shortly. I said great. He then proceeded to tell me that I needed to pay an application fee of $50, and complete financial aid application. Well, I never paid the application fee or completed the financial aid paper work. I told them that I didn't have it and I could do this at a later time.
Next, thing I knew is that I started receiving bills, and collections calls, wanting $5296 for 3 online classes. I have appealed, advised them that I was not a student and so on. The appeal was denied, and they proceeded with turning me into the IRS collection so that they can intercept my federal taxes. UMUC can not continue to steal from people this is not right. I am a single mother and I look forward to receiving my income tax return but I will not file until this is clear. I will file for an extension with the IRS. If any one can help please contact me mariatu. [email protected]
