We (Wife & I) had breakfast at the above named restaurant. We go out to eat a lot and I have to say that this is the first time that I am writing to complain about this one particular waitress whom I thought was one of the "worst of the worst" (WOW) servers I have encountered. She upset me so intensely that I could not finish eating my breakfast. From the very beginning, we sensed her rudeness and abruptness the way we were treated; no smiles, nothing! Not even a friendly tone of her old voice.in other words, we were treated like sub-humans. I'm a 73 year old veteran and I am sick and tired of having some white person talking down to me and treating me like an animal. I cannot help but suspect she hates asians like us because I noticed she treated other whites in the restaurant more friendlier with laughter and smiles; not with the terse abruptness she treated us! I cannot help but think that racism insidiously permeates our society. I cannot understand why people like her are not taken off the floor. She should be working in the back room where she doesn't have to interact with people in the real world who patronize and support businesses like yours. I complained to the manager about this particular inconsiderate waitress and he only responded to say that he would talk to her. I also asked him for a rating slip so I could write her up but he refused and said that they do not have rating slips like the most of the restaurants. I think that Marie Callendar's owes my wife and I an apology, that is, if they find my version of the incident credible and worthy of their consideration. The other option is fire that lady (Patti), which I know through experience and wisdom will probably never happen.in closing, you have my permission to share this letter with both the manager and Patti (WOW). I forgot to mention but we were on vacation at Riverside visiting my son who is doing his intern teaching the deaf students at California School for the Deaf. The very next day we went to IHOP for breakfast and we were treated very nicely there so, we had breakfast at IHOP again the following day on our last day of vacation at Riverside. As far as we are concerned, my wife and I will never patronize Marie Callendars again. We'll just share our bad experience at that restaurant with friends and let them know that racism still exists stealthily with insensitivity and callousness, at Marie Callendars anyway.
