Amazing—truly amazing how the Contra Costa County Department of Child Support Services works. I understand that they are only human too and that people can make mistakes but are they blind, deaf and dumb as well?
I read a previous entry on here about another person dealing with them years ago and that made me decide to write this now.
My daughter turned 18 and my ex husband filed for child support. Quick back up information—he lives in Sacramento and lets our daughter live in a house in the east bay by herself for the past 5 years. Yes—tried to move her into my house numerous times however she got the freedom at her dads and just left constantly.
So here I am getting my wages attached by the Contra Costa Child Support Services Department to assist in the parent that is responsible for supporting my daughter—who lives in Sacramento and does not support her at all.
The answer I receive is "she is still a full time student".. My daughter has not been in a full time student capacity for 5 years. She attends an adult education once a week class (when she wants to) and because her "graduation year" isnt until this June—I pay support.
So my question is—a parent who struggles all her life to do the right thing is being drained financially by a parent who doesnt even live with the child (adult). I am a responsible parent as I have paid support for years to him however he and I made an arrangment to stop due to the high cost of medical insurance that I have to cover her. Child Support Services said that doesnt matter so now I have to pay again.
Seems to me that there are many other situations that they can work on besides this case that is completely a joke and if I have to I will prove it in the media that they are sending money from one parent to another absent parent that doesnt even support the child. Irony—no stupidity on their part and Shame on you Contra Costa Child Support Services!!
