Pharmacon Int Online prescription scam

I placed an order from buymeds.com to obtain a prescription and medication. All I got was billed and some fake meds that had no medicinal properties. At the time of processing the order, the company sent an e-mail requesting fax copies of my medical records and proof of identity before they could process my order, however, the e-mail did not include a fax number to do so.

It was not explained in the website at that time, that this "formality" would occur. As was policy described by the website at that time, I could call and cancel my order free of charge prior to processing, and already leery about this process, I called to cancel. The so called customer service rep said someone from customer service would get back to me, took my number and e-mail address. About two hours later, I got an e-mail saying my order had shipped. I was billed 193.00.

The order arrived three days later, and the medication I got came in a bottle with an order number, not an Rx number, and had a lot of strange powdered residue inside. It seemed primarily made of cornstarch. According to the buymeds website I couldn't return it. According to law I couldn't keep it, because it was illegally dispensed, so I discarded it.

I called and wrote the company several times prior and after, but the customer service people that answered only said someone from customer service would get back to me. After ten e-mails someone finally replied by e-mail and explained why they would not refund my money. After saying I could not return the medication for a refund, they said they could not give a refund unless I returned the medication.

I reported this to the FTC, (also FDA and Florida board of Pharmacies) but the actual biller Pharmacon, refused to give out their address, or any information about their company, needed to aid the FTC. The person I spoke with acted "paranoid" about answering anything.

The company my appear to be within compliance with laws now, but in my case they were not, and I suspect they have victimized far more people than me, many who don't want to come forward because of privacy issues. American Express was also useless in recovering funds, and I falsely believed I had some form of protection from online fraud.

I had purchased a prescription before to try a medication via online that was legit, and then told my doctor about it. He prescribed it. I also got the medication I needed at that time, which was never provided by buymeds.com, from a local doctor.
