Poor Product even worse customer service

I bought a whirlpool fridge just over a year ago.By checking forums online I have found that a lot of people are having the same problems as myself.in my fridge I have an ice maker. The flap that keeps cold air from going out and warm air from coming in has broke. The housing is just made of plastic and is under a lot of pressure with that spring and just snapped. Whirlpool doesn't service this part so they want me to buy a whole new door for my fridge for 600 dollars! That part they could send out probably cost them five bucks but obviously they just want to make money off the product. I have only had this fridge a little over a year and don't believe I should have to pay 600 dollars already for a new door. Who would want to buy that product when they have to spend 600 dollars on it every year. Anyway I have talked to numerous customer service reps at whirlpool one that called me today who was very rude. She told me that they are already going above and beyond for me and that I should be happy with that. She told me that it must be something I did to the fridge and that they are not responsible for anything. Then she told me that she doesn't get any breaks for when her fridge breaks down so why should I. That pissed me off! She finally came to the conclusion that she could get me 50% off on that new door. Does that really seem fair?! Shouldn't a fridge last longer than a year? Shouldn't a company stand by their product? I am very disappointed with my product from Whirlpool and even more disappointed with their customer service!
