Fortune High-Tech Marketing (FHTM) is a multi-level marketing (MLM) business that was founded by Paul Orberson in 2001. Orberson actually has years of internet marketing experience. Like many MLM companies, FHTM has been criticized for being a MLM pyramid scheme. Not all MLM companies are pyramid schemes. A company that is not a scheme has products and services that are sold and does not fully depend on the recruitment of new representatives. Reps at FHTM are able to make a profit when they use a virtual store to sell various products (ranging from beauty supplies to cable service from Dish Network). Many of the products that FHTM offers are already being used by many consumers. Reps can also make a profit when they get other individuals to join FHTM's network. Pyramid schemes are illegal in the United States and the Federal Trade Commission emphasizes that MLM companies are legal if the main aim of the company is to sell products or services rather then recruit new members.
