I have two Vonage lines. One for home and one for business. The features can't be matched by the local land lines or the cable digital phone providers. I call all over the world for business and my family lives in Canada so this technology saves us huge cash. I even switched to Time Warners digital phone for a bit, but the features Vonage offers just couldn't be matched.
The forwarding, simultaneous ring, voice mail that is send to you in an email for free, it just goes on and on.
I wouldn't hesitate to use Vonage. You just need a good reliable ISP to make sure you phone is always on.
